Marys Peak is the highest spot in the Coast Range. Its wildflower-dotted summit meadows command views from the ocean to the Cascades. We will hike the Meadow Edge and Summit Loop trails along the margin of huge old growth noble fires and meadows. The trail climbs from 3520 ft to the summit at 4297 ft for a 777 foot gain. We will take a short break at the top to admire the wildflowers. We consider the hike to be moderate. Parking $5.00 Free with NW Forest, America the Beautiful Pass

City parking lot beside 113 Spaulding Ave
Since temperatures are expected to be near 90 degrees, I am moving the time up. I will be leaving the parking lot on Coburg Rd near Winco and Office Depot, just in front of Video Only, at 9:00am, to arrive in Brownsville at 9:30am. This ride will go from Brownsville to Thompson’s Mills State Heritage Site and beyond, on rural roads. The distance can be from 17.2 to 25.4 mi, depending on extensions, and is mostly flat with a couple of small hills.
We will meet at a small city park beside 113 Spaulding Ave. Travel time is 30 minutes and 27 miles from the Beltline exit of I-5. Travel north on I-5 to exit 216, turn right and travel on OR-228, about 4 miles east. Turn left onto Main St into Brownsville, turn right on Spaulding Ave, the parking lot is center of the block on the left.

“One of the Coast’s most spectacular old-growth Sitka spruce forests drapes the wild canyons south of Cape Perpetua” per Bill Sullivan’s guidebook. The Cook’s Ridge to GwynnCreek Loop is a Moderate 5.8 mile hike with 700’ of elevation gain.

Carpooling: Drive 84 miles to trailhead, 168 miles round trip driving. There is a $5 parking fee (or US Senior Pass) for trailhead parking at Cape Perpetua.

Mallard Creek Golf Course/Tuesday, July 16th/TEE TIMES: 10:04 AND 10:12AM
18 holes = $55 / Cart/Per rider = $18 (recommended, but not required)
We hope some players we haven‘t seen in a while can join us and new players are welcome! Mallard Creek is a beautiful course 45 min. north of Eugene, and also is a RV resort. The course also has very good food available for a bite and/or beverage after play. Click on ‘Register‘ to sign-up or contact Cynthia Butler. Players will be contacted before play to confirm cart riders and teams. It should be a gorgeous day!

Women Only event: Due to a tournament being double-booked at the same time as our tee times, and limited registrations, this event location has been moved to Oakway Golf Course for the same date and time: Saturday, July 27th at 9am. Pine Ridge Golf Club is an great 18-hole golf course located on the outskirts of Springfield that will prove fun and challenging for all skill levels. When you’re finished golfing, grab a bite to eat and lounge at the Mohawk Bar & Grill. Tee times: 12:30, 12:40, and 12:50 pm.
