Blue Lake is just off Hwy 20 on the east side of Santiam Pass. It is an odd place because, despite being close to a major highway and having a state park on one side, it is not easy to access. There is a logging road but it is overgrown and your car will get heavily scratched just driving near the lake. My plan is to hike down this road and part way around the lake. Round trip is about six miles and you will have to climb 400 feet to get back to your car. The hike to the lake is the old road and the trail around the lake is unmaintained but reasonable.

While the lake is beautiful, the hike to it is through an area that burned in the B&B Complex fire of 2003 and maybe a couple times since. It has not recovered well. There isn‘t a lot of shade along the road but I‘m hoping for spring flowers.

We will meet at the usual spot in the Albertsons parking lot on Main St in eastern Springfield.
