Mushroom Foray- Oregon Coast -- CANCELED
About this event
Please join us for a fun filled afternoon of mushroom hunting on the Oregon coast. Going on a mushroom foray is similar to a forest bathing/treasure hunt experience in that you are encouraged to walk slowly, enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the forest while keeping a keen eye to the ground for the treasure (i.e.mushrooms). While we will be hiking off trail, this is not a physically strenuous event except for possibly stepping over or under twigs and branches. We will meet at the SW corner of the Target parking lot, 4575 W. 11th Ave. in Eugene, at noon for a brief orientation of where we are going and mandatory safety protocols. Bring with you: a whistle, water, red or orange outerwear, and a bag with handles. If we do not get enough rain between now and October 16, we will reschedule and each person that signs up will be contacted individually.
Your group leader for the event, Norma Barton, honed her skill and her love of the mushroom foray through her association with the Cascade Mycological Society. Norma has been foraging for mushrooms for approximately eight years, and while by no means an expert, Norma can safely accurately identify seven varieties, including the delicious Chanterelle.
